The duCret Center of Art is a 27,000-square-foot facility on five acres in Plainfield, NJ, housed within the historic Strong Residence, a property listed on the National and State Historic Registers. As New Jersey’s oldest art school, now in its 99th year, we provide a dedicated space for various art programs.
We offer classes in disciplines such as painting, ceramics, stained glass, jewelry design, sewing, drawing, and computer graphics, along with our kids/teen programs. Our programs accommodate beginners and experienced artists, with instructors with expertise in their respective fields.
The facility also includes two auditoriums that local theater groups use for live performances. A gallery space is also available for rotating exhibits and a permanent art collection. The center supports working artists by providing 11 dedicated art studios, offering them a consistent space for creation and collaboration.
