Unlike any other, Skylands Museum of Art focuses on enchanting and imaginative international 20th and 21st century sculpture, paintings and illustrations. The permanent collection features over 300 works by leading artists including Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Leonor Fini, Brian Froud, Anne Bachelier, Brian Branch, Michael Parkes and Ailene Fields.
The three-floor museum presents the works by theme such as fairy tales, mythology, dragons, faces & flowers, the human psyche, and more. The Sanctuary Room and Sculpture Gardens are particularly peaceful. Artists are welcome to sketch indoors or out.
NOW THROUGH MAY 3: Special exhibition of The Phantom of the Opera - 26 oil paintings by French surrealist Anne Bachelier to richly illustrate her 2009 book with Gaston Leroux's gothic love story presented in both English and French.
